It refers to help from Colin Little and my mother in providing historical documents.\nIt gives the full history of Edward's life and contains a photograph of your cup inside the book, which would be a good thing to have linked with the cup. We found the book on Amazon.\nThe family are gathering at our house on February 12th to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Peace negotiations.\nRegards,\nJohn"

    "value" : "Caption to the photograph of the meeting in Shanghai to determine the political future of China 15 February 1912\n\nThis meeting was held at 30 Gordon Road, Shanghai, the residence of Edward Selby Little, first General Manager of Brunner Mond, a part of Imperial Chemical Industries Ltd. China.\n\nThe Meeting was to provide, on neutral grounds, and in comfortable conditions, a venue for the peace negotiations between the warring factions. Thus leading to the formation of the 1st Republic of China.\n\nIn the picture -\n\nTong Shao Yi, Chief Minister of the Manchu Government.\n\nE.S. Little, host, known by his Chinese given name as Li Tai Li.\n\nGeneral Nu Ting Fang, representing Dr Sun Yat Sen, who was present at many of the meetings.\n\nAs a result of the successful outcome of the negotiations PremierTong Shao Yi presented the silver bowl to E.S. Little, a personal friend, in gratitude for his diplomacy and hospitality.\n\nThe bowl was inherited by his grandson, E.C.S. Little, who donated it to the Auckland War Memorial Museum\n\n(note written by Colin Little 18/11/2000)"
