Egyptian bead necklace
Dug up during WW1 b y Lieut. George Sissmore LaVie
Lt George Sissmore Lavie, married; well-educated; studied in Lucerne, Switzerland; worked as a reporter with the Christchurch Press. WW1: enlisted as 2nd Lieutenant; served with Canterbury Infantry Regiment; left NZ with Main Body; based in Egypt and later France; killed in action, France 11 June 1916. Mentioned in published history of Canterbury Regiment.

beads. Series of green faience beads. There are 104 tubular beads, 38 single beads, 15 double-barrel beads, and ten double-disc beads. One single bead is of steatite and two are of jasper, several are made of bone. Dug up during WW1 by Lieutenant George Sissmore LaVie.
