.1: chair frame: wood - possibly Australian mahogany; woven cane seat; leather straps; metal plaque verso. Materials identified by William Cottrell (via photo only): The Ak Museum chair appears to be, faded walnut which is not typical, as they are usually European Beech. The inlay is ebony [obviously] the lighter wood is boxwood and the green wood is almost certainly dyed sycamore. The dark brown branch that the bird is perching on appears to be a mahogany, while the stringing to the seat frame is tulipwood. The wee birdy (clearly generic and non-native) shows efforts to 'sand-shade' [burn] the veneer. I cannot identify the burr [knotty] inlay to the upper back splat but it might be elm, pollard oak(?) although its red colour more suggests thuya.
