http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/description Stoneware, pigmented slip, gloss and matte glazes, porcelain inlay. This work, with its illusionistic, severely angular form offering real and suggested depth, was inspiration for the backdrop of an opera,’ La Pavillion’, based upon Japanese folk-lore and performed in France. Hayashi designed the backdrop for the performances. See poster. Hayashi is a highly regarded maker who has been influential with both his own work and also by exhibiting with, and promoting the work of, the Japanese/American, Isamu Noguchi. Hayashi has won competitions in France and in Italy with his work.
