This masi was made on the order of the Tui Cakau by the people of Bouma, the village named on the cloth. It was then ceremonially presented to Adi Lady Lala Mara at the gathering of Fiji's Great Council of Chiefs. Subsequently it was passed to the donor personally by Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara as a gift from Adi Lady Mara in Fiji about 1987. Bold patterns in black and white with some brown. Patterned in two panels with wide black band between them. Taunamu, barkcloth room divider with stencilled pattern. Bouma village, Taveuni Island. This large taunamu was made on the order of the Tui Cakau by the women of Bouma village. It was ceremonially presented to Lady Lala Mara, the wife of the then Prime Minister of Fiji, Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara, at a meeting of the Great Council of Chiefs in 1985. bark cloth
