Model canoe. Small scale model of a double hull canoe carved from rakau (wood) with parau (pearl shell) inlay, rauara (pandanus) akamanea (decoration) and puru arkari (coconut sennit) lashing. Hull and side boards carved from rakau and lashed together. Puru akari lashing. Upper sides of the hull constructed from rauara with red fibre borders, possibly of apuraka (giant swamp taro). Faded red akaververe (fringed) fibre akamanea (decoration) at bow and stern areas. Three horizontal rakau strats across width of the hull. Vaka akaraanga
