He left New Zealand with the 7th Reinforcements aboard SS Maunganui on 9 October 1915, disembarking at Suez on 18 November 1915. He then took part in the Egyptian Campaign before proceeding to the Western Front. Rifleman Geoffrey Wilson was twice wounded and then killed in action 12 October 1917 at Passchendaele.
