This simple, restrained and utilitarian sideboard was commissioned from Cousins and Cousins Ltd by newlyweds for their home. New Zealand rimu was, by this time, a wood that replaced oak.

Inside is one shelf. In the centre of the main body are two parallel drawers with double, wedge shaped handles. Below the drawers is a double doored cabinet with one shelf. It has four legs in front and two legs behind. sideboard circa 1915 designed and made by Cousins and Cousins Ltd., Auckland, New Zealand New Zealand rimu h 1395 x w 1526 x d 565 mm labelled reverse on tin plate, ‘D.S.C./ AND/ COUSINS & COUSINS/ LIMITED/ HOUSE FURNISHERS/ - AND - / MANUFACTURERS/ AUCKLAND’ and stamped on reverse ‘15034’ purchased with funds provided by the Charles Disney Art Trust, 1999.47.1
