Over a million C96's were produced between 1896 and the late 1930s. Marked: 'JH Thom' on holster JH Thom is almost certainly John Henry Thom, farmer of Taneatua, enlisted with the Auckland Mounted Rifles, service number 13/2934, and embarked for Suez aboard HMNZT Maunganui with the 9th Reinforcements, leaving New Zealand on 8 January 1916.
