When the cartoon was published again on 20 September 1919, the Observer caption stated: "When the call for help went forth the Empire was drawn like specks of steel to the magnet. The Dominions, full of the very best type of fighting men the earth has ever produced, rushed them to the war, and helped to snatch victory."
