http://erlangen-crm.org/current/P3_has_note 1914-15 Star, WW1 Medal awarded to 12/77 Pte Ronald James Dalziel, Auckland Regiment, NZEF. Ronald J Dalziel of Grafton Road Auckland enlisted for service with the Auckland Regiment in 1914 and embarked with the Main Body on 16th October. Before enlistment he was a motor boat driver with the NZ Government ‘Loco’ Dept. Private Dalziel served in Egypt and on Gallipoli and was reported wounded on 8th May 1915. On this date the New Zealand Infantry Brigade charge on the 'Daisy Patch' resulted in 835 casualties. Private Dalziel was one of 491 men invalided back to New Zealand in September 1915 aboard the Tahiti. This was the “second batch of wounded” to return home. He had received gunshot wounds to both thighs. He was discharged from service on 15 May 1916, but died in Rotorua on 1st December 1924 “on account of wounds received in active service”.
