Robert Poots, Wellington Infantry Battalion Robert Poots, [born in Ireland], enlisted as a Private with the Wellington Infantry Battalion, and embarked with the 8th Reinforcements on 13th November 1915. He was awarded the Military Medal for bravery during the Messines Offensive in 1917. At the time he was a Lance Corporal and held the position of Battalion Chiropodist. He received this award for assistance given to wounded men while in a locality under heavy artillery fire. 1914-15 Star, WW1 Medal awarded to 10/3371 Sgt.
