Predicate Object Collection of Auckland War Memorial Museum Tamaki Paenga Hira, N1235 2016-03-21T00:00:00.000Z 1 2019-10-25T03:38:10.950Z 1E 6 55 1914-15 Star, WW1 Awarded to 12/1775 Pte GH Quarrie, Auckland Infantry Battalion, NZEF, WW1, NZEF, WW1 George Henry Quarrie, labourer, of Otahuhu, Auckland, embarked with the 3rd Reinforcements on 14th February 1915 (arrived Egypt 26th March) and served with the Auckland Infantry Battalion. His war was brief, on 23rd June 1915 the Ashburton Guardian lists him among wounded recently arrived in Malta [from Gallipoli]. This, or a subsequent wound, led to his being invalided back to New Zealand, arriving in January 1917. 1914-15 Star, WW1 Awarded to 12/1775 Pte George Henry Quarrie, Auckland Regiment, NZEF. a bronze four pointed star with crown at top; across the face are two crossed swords; suspension ring; with ribbon obverse: at centre on a scroll is date 1914-15 surrounded by an oak wreath; superscribed below, monogram initials GV reverse: flat and plain; stamped with recipient’s details ribbon: watered ribbon of red merging into white which merges into blue named on reverse: 12/1775 PTE / G.H. QUARRIE. / N.Z.E.F. medal, campaign
