Predicate Object Collection of Auckland War Memorial Museum Tamaki Paenga Hira, N1238 2016-03-21T00:00:00.000Z 1 2019-10-25T03:39:17.078Z 1E 8 55 Victory Medal Awarded to 12/1775 Pte GH Quarrie, Auckland Infantry Battalion, NZEF, WW1, NZEF, WW1 George Henry Quarrie, labourer, of Otahuhu, Auckland, embarked with the 3rd Reinforcements on 14th February 1915 (arrived Egypt 26th March) and served with the Auckland Infantry Battalion. His war was brief, on 23rd June 1915 the Ashburton Guardian lists him among wounded recently arrived in Malta [from Gallipoli. This, or a subsequent wound, led to his being invalided back to New Zealand, arriving in January 1917.
