Médaille d'honneur des Affaires étrangères. Probably the medal awarded to Bimbashi (Major) Eric Leslie Desmond Lees, Military Provost Staff Corps.He received the Medaille d'Honneur avec glaives en Bronze for “distinguished service during the course of the campaign” (LG 1 June 1920 p6034). These medals were awarded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for acts of courage by French citizens abroad, or foreigners. Awards for military service included crossed arms as part of the suspension clasp. The medal award during WW1 was designed by D. Dupuis in 1887, and from October 1917 the suspension device included an oak wreath.
