http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/description Te riri n te tai. Skirt. This is a riri made of te maunei (cyperus sedge; grass). This was made for a child. The lengths of the te maunei are layered and short starting for the ends, then becomes longer towards the centre. A string of kora (coconut sennit cordage) and dark brown human hair has been made into a two-ply cord. The strands of te maunei have been intricately knotted along this cord. Two long, loose starnds of the twined hair and kora hang loose at one end of the riri. The opposite end features a looped end of the same cord. The maunei is dried and pale yellow in colour. Pinnules across the back of the riri are slightly larger in width compared to the gathered pinnules at the front.
