http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/description Te kaneati. Bonito lure. This is made up of three components: te bwaeao (pearl shell), wood, te ira n atu (human hair). The shank is made of bwaeao, lustre in colour, shaped and smoothed into a tubular form, probably using an atitai (hard coral stone). One end is concaved into a V-shape. Adjacent to this is the lashing of the point, made of wood, and a hackle of hair to the shank. A thin kora of ira n atu tightly wraps the collective objects together. The other end of the the shank is round in form with a perforation bored through the shank. A thick and extremely long kora of ira n atu is threaded through the perforation and tied at the base. This kora is partly coiled and it is in this form whereby the measurement of length is derived from.
