http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/description Te katau te nana. Waist ornament of coconut shell discs. This is made up of three components; te kora (sennit cord), te nana (coconut shell discs) and te nouo (conus shell). It is a double-stranded piece. Te kora is constructed using the two-ply technique however, the ends have loosened. These are worked by threading te nouo and te nana, which are perforated at the centre. Te nana are of various shades of its natural, dark brown colour. Te nouo and te nana have been drilled or cut from a larger piece. These are thin in depth and small in circumference. A distinguishing quality of this piece is the alternating te nouo and te nana.
