Handwritten pencil note on preliminary page states: 'Sketch by Swanison - Auck. in 1850 from Mechanics Bat, p. 65' ; before back cover is a loose photocopy of a map of the City of Auckland from 1921. This copy is signed by Johannes Anderson. 084181 inscribed by the author to Claude Purchas, 15 March 1926, signed John Barr. 25 John Barr, Chief Librarian ; preceded by A Maori history of the Auckland isthmus by George Graham ; and a foreword by J.H.
